2020 Ford Mustang: Horsepower

With six engines to choose from, the Ford Mustang gives you a range of horsepower that goes from amazing to mind-blowing:

2.3L EcoBoost® 2.3L High Performance 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 Enhanced 5.2L NA Ti-VCT V8 with Flat-Plane Crankshaft 5.2L Supercharged Cross-Plane Crank V8 Engine

350 lb-ft of torque 350 lb-ft of torque 420 lb-ft of torque 420 lb-ft of torque 429 lb-ft of torque 625 lb-ft of torque

When choosing a powerful engine, one of the first specs you’ll want to look at is the horsepower. It will give you an idea of how quickly you’ll be able to accelerate—and in a sports car, acceleration is a pretty important feature.

From the 2.3L EcoBoost® engine to the 5.2L Supercharged V8 engine, the Ford Mustang offers phenomenal horsepower. Since the 5.2L Supercharged V8 engine can go from zero to 60 MPH in less than four seconds, once you get going, you’ll never want to slow down.

Ford Mustang: Engines by Trim Level

The standard EcoBoost® engine already offers an amazing drive and performance. It’s turbocharged and has direct injection fuel to give you the most bang for your buck.

If you choose the available High Performance Package, you’ll get the most powerful EcoBoost® engine in a car designed for controlled handling and a spirited drive. Available with this package is the EcoBoost handling package, which comes with the MagneRide® Damping System and Pirelli™ Corsa4 tires.

The GT and the BULLITT both use a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine but the BULLITT enhances it with an added 97-millimeter air intake to optimize horsepower and torque.

Standard on the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R is the 5.2L NA Ti-VCT V8 engine with Flat-Plane Crankshaft. This has a redline of 8,250 RPM, which means it can offer you incredibly high engine speeds to help amp up the performance.

Finally, at the top of the list, you’ll find the Shelby GT500. If you are looking for the most horsepower available, this 5.2L Supercharged Cross-Plane Crank V8 engine is what you need.

2020 Mustang: Performance Features

There are several transmissions to choose from when it comes to the Ford Mustang. The standard is a trustworthy 6-speed manual transmission that will get the job done. If you’re looking to take it up a notch, the available 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission will give you a more responsive drive experience.

You could also choose the TREMEC® 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This is the first dual-clutch transmission available in a Mustang and can offer more consistent power and torque along with lightning-fast shifts.

When you hit the road, the available MagneRide® Damping System will ensure you have a smooth ride. If the road ahead looks bumpy, this feature will still give you a balanced drive so you can proceed forward with confidence.
